The Worker and State Subterfuge
"The fact that great plans turn into their opposite does not mean that they are senseless; rather, they follow a different plan. Then the means of the statesman fail no less than those of the historian. Statesmanship becomes a system of temporary measures. If it wanted to achieve more, for instance to found order, it would soon be reduced to absurdity. If one does not want to live purely as a nomad, then in an earthquake landscape the workshop style is the only sensible one, the only one that is, if not durable, at least sustainable."
Liberalism as a preventive measure against destitution. The solely defensive order is also of a humility before fate, it is not only the destruction of the old order but a reconstitution of the human type, a training against his old incapacities.
Between paradise and its destruction, the man exiled from history sees his origins, the face he once held in the Golden Age. This also gives the monarch the freedom to rest, as the great families who survive only in the peasant blood.
Thus the generalised violence at the beginning of the fall of monarchies, then their isolated and total defeats. In the beginning, a survival war in strengthening of order, and at the end the face which has outlived its nobility. The peasant turned to an assassin does not necessarily have nobility, but senses the need to take it – as in the Russian impoverished who began to horde the old wealth, golden crowns hidden within dusty sheds.
